Fantasy Recap – Nov 12 – Drew Stafford scores….

…now everyone change their pants and see who continued to be fantasy worthy from last night’s games.

New Jersey 3 vs Anaheim 1

David Clarkson scored a goal and had 6 PIMs.  If you like Chris Neil on your fantasy team, then you’ll love Clarkson. Zach Parise and Jamie Langenbrunner both had 1 goal and 1 assist each, taking turns setting each other up.  Defensemen Andy Green goes on the list of players I’ll watch by getting two points on the night.  Martin Broduer continues to benefit by being on a defensively minded team by getting the win, but not the illusive shutout record.  Corey Perry score for Anaheim and Ryan Getzlaf extended his point streak 10 8 games with an assist.

Los Angeles 5 vs Carolina 2

No real surprise here as the Kings ran over Manny Legace and the Hurricanes.  Tuomo Ruutu scored both both goals.  Of Wayne Simmonds , Justin Williams, Randy Jones, and Ryan Smith, each with 1 goal and 1 assist on the night, expect the latter to continue at this pace, but keep an eye on Williams.  Anze Kopitar continued to his league lead in points with 2 assists, and Alexander Frolov snapped his cold streak with another two.

Washington 5 vs Islanders 4

Jose Theodore helped the Islanders keep it a much closer game than it should have been by letting in 3 goals on 5 shots before being replaced by Semyon Varlamov saved 25 of 26.  You tell me who should be the number one goalie.  Dwayne Roloson made 37 saves on 41 shots, keeping the Islanders in it enough to lose in the 11th round of the shootout.   Alexander Semin had 11 shots and scored 2 goals, while Tomas Fleischmenn continued as a fill-in for Alexander Ovechkin with a goal. Mike Green picked up 2 assists.  Mark Streit showed up on the score sheet with a goal and an assist. Matt Moulson continued his break out season adding a goal for point number 14 in 18 games.

Buffalo 3 vs Edmonton 1

There should be a fantasy category for penalty killing (PK), as Ryan Miller and the rest of the Buffalo Sabers killed off a 5 minute penalty to hold off a 2 – 1 lead.  Clarke Mcarthur earned 15 PIMs, in the accidental boarding penalty (Dont’ expect him to contribute to the PIM category too often).  Yes, Drew Stafford did score, but I’d wait till he puts together a string games before picking him up.  Pay more attention to Tim Connolly’s 2 assists.  Patrick O’Sullivan scored for Edmonton and Dustin Penner was kept off the scoresheet.

Detroit 9 vs Columbus 1  (Blow-out!)

Here’s a rule to follow.  The game after a big loss, Detroit will come back with a bigger win. Niklas Kronwall, Justin Abdelkader, Daniel Cleary, Todd Bertuzzi and Pavel Datsyuk each picked up 2 points each.   James Howard got the start and win, the game after Chris Osgood’s sub-par play.  Rick Nash got the lone goal for Columbus.

Chicago 3 vs Colorado 2 (SO)

Brent Sopel broke his unimpressive streak with an assist. But the story of the night is the young guns Johnathan Toews, Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane connected for a goal.  Toews also won 17 face-offs, and Cameron Barker also got the second regulation goal for the Blackhawks.  Wojtek Wolski continued his strong play with a goal.  Craig Anderson didn’t pick up the win, but he did make 37 saves on 39 shots and had a .948 save percentage.
